Nine Piercings To Take A Stab At

Maybe you have a fond memory of taking a seat in that Claire’s high chair while they draw a dot on your ear to pierce it. Or maybe you’ve been admiring your friend’s most recent additional piercing for too long. Though the world of piercings may be intimidating for the new and experienced alike, there’s a piercing (or nine) for us all! We’ve listed out three different types of piercings for three different parts of the body, and each at varying levels of intensity to suit your personal style.

Ears

The mid-cartilage piercing is a pretty common piercing, but for good reason! Without straying too far from your professional and classy Cal student roots, you can still rock a little bit of edge.

The industrial piercing is actually a two-in-one type of piercing; you get a bar inserted through your ear in two holes. The most typical industrial piercing goes through two points of your cartilage horizontally. These stylish piercings are perfect for those with only a lobe piercing, or none at all!
Migraine suffering fashion lovers, we have just the thing for you: the daith piercing. Though not neurologically proven, the daith piercing boasts a vast fanbase who claim that the piercing's location in the inner cartilage fold has helped with their migraines as it  is a pressure point used in acupuncture. As for those of you without migraines, you’ll still look great.

Face

Another popular piercing, the septum is widely loved for its versatility; whether you’re looking to be chic or edgy, this piercing has got it for you. It also has a large selection of jewelry to pick from, so if your style is having an off day, you can rest assured that this glam piercing has got you covered.

If the ADA’s warnings of oral piercings being damaging to gums or teeth have turned you off from mouth piercings, then look no further than the angel kiss! These unique lip piercings don’t actually go into your mouth, and they tend to heal quickly.
The bridge piercing goes, as the name implies, through the bridge of your nose and between your eyes. Though it is a bit of a bold choice, choosing a stud color similar to your skin tone is an easy way to practice some discretion for any stuffy internship interviewers.

Body

The navel, or belly button, is the most common body piercing to get. It heals relatively painlessly and makes a great summer accessory for when you want to show some skin in a crop top bikini.

While some may have a knee jerk reaction to the pain associated with a nipple piercing, many owners of this piercing claim that the pain is worth it for the massive confidence boost, and it’s actually quite a popular piercing.

The collarbone piercing presents an intimidating piece, but the pain associated with it will only the studs look even more badass when you show them off with an off shoulder top.

Though we may remember the Claire’s piercing booth with some fondness, don’t be mislead; the piercing stations you might find at a mall that use a gun tend to be more unhygienic, leading to higher risk for a nasty infection. Save yourself the worry and just head to any of Berkeley’s best tattoo/piercing shops. Industrial on Dwight and Zebra on Telegraph are the two most popular, and for good reason. They present reasonable prices, have great hygiene practice, and offer an array of jewelry ranging from edgy to simplistic to cute. So grab your ID, take a deep breath, and go for it!
