A Pop Up Success

Garb(age), Garb’s first ever pop-up clothing store was a huge success! The event was set up on Sproul Plaza, and despite the smoke, hundreds of people came to get in on our amazing deals. We had tons of clothes and accessories including a ton of designer items. There were wardrobe additions for every occasion from Levi’s jeans and Lululemon leggings to Coach handbags. Most of the items were priced below $10, and many were $5 or less! After 3pm, the price for everything dropped to $1 for the last hour of the pop-up shop.

Silkroll donated around 500 items for the event, and we sold a majority of the items, raising over $1000 for the club! Thanks, everyone for the support to help keep our blog growing and thriving.

Whatever we didn't sell throughout the day we donated to the AMSA (American Medical Student Association). AMSA is a Pre-Med student club that was collecting donated clothing on Sproul Plaza for one of their events on the same day as Garb(age). They plan to donate the clothes to the homeless and whatever can’t be donated will be given to ReUSE. ReUSE is a non-profit thrift store at UC Berkeley that serves the campus community. Garb loves collaborating with other clubs on campus, and being able to donate the extra clothes made sure that nothing went to waste!

Here at Garb, we take sustainability seriously (I mean, we go to Berkeley come on!). That’s why we wanted Garb(age) to focus on reusing and repurposing clothes, and bring the fun of thrifting right on campus. Silkroll really helped us achieve this goal by donating high quality new and used items to us for free to sell at super cheap prices to students on a budget.

Silkroll is an online high-end women’s fashion exchange company. They are “committed to lengthening the lifecycle of quality fashion through our unique recirculation methodology, and redirecting textile waste from landfills”. As part of their sponsorship with Garb, they donated hundreds of clothes to our club in exchange for being featured on our blog. At Garb, we are always interested in collaborating and promoting brands and companies we love, such as our collab last Spring with JNBY.

We’re planning on hosting another Garb(age) event soon, so keep checking our blog and social media for more info! Now go have a relaxing and stylish winter break ;)
