How to: Spot an ABG
For those of you living under a rock (but we go to Berkeley, aren’t we all), you should know that ABG means “Asian Baby Girl/Gangster.” Here’s a quick guide on your ABG hunts!
1. Rave Bae
You’re at a rave spotted with a strappy black bralette and black shorts (preferably ripped for extra skin exposure). But, who needs to spot you in person when there is definitely a photo already posted on Instagram ;) It’s clear you’ve never touched a baseball, but you know you have one of those black baseball jerseys for all your music festival needs.
2. Makeup Essentials
Fake eyelashes, cat winged eyeliner, and strong brows are necessities in life. Don’t forget your monthly threading appointments to maintain that perfect brow arch.
3. Hair
Your hair is long and highlighted ombre. End of story.
4. Adidas Gear
You wear Adidas clothing and black Nike sneakers, but Adidas superstars have recently monopolized your shoe closet. Your go-to overwear is the Adidas track jacket, unless of course the basic Adidas logo plastered on a tshirt is more you. Your boyfriend (assuming you are not as unlovable as me) wears the Adidas track pants (there is also a high chance that he is in AFX).
5. Tattoos
You either have a tattoo or are figuring out a way to get one without your parents noticing. Tattoos are either delicate flowers or something that screams “I’m so cultural” like chinese characters.
6. Piercings
Belly button. Cartilage. Need I say more?
7. Music
You vibe hard with rap and EDM, you just went to Porter Robinson, and you’re saving your internship money for the next rave.
8. Sin City
You were at Vegas last Spring break or plan to this Spring. Instagram photos include, but are not limited to, you posing with a champagne bottle and you in a bikini with your girl gang of ABGs.
9. Loves dogs (or pretends to be one)
Snapchat dog filter selfies are part of your daily routine and by now one of them has made it onto Instagram, guaranteed at least 3 on your Finsta. But aren’t we all guilty.
