4 Summer Pieces You Can Wear In The Fall
Despite the flip-flopping weather (¡¡¡global warming is a hoax!!!), it will eventually reach the low sixties and you’ll have to bid farewell to your beloved summer wardrobe. Though I too am excited to rock some comfy sweats, you don’t quite need to ditch your summer clothes just yet! Here are four summer pieces you can easily transition into the fall weather!
T-Shirt Dress
It’s hard to find something more simple than chucking on an oversized t-shirt, slipping on some sandals, and just walking outside to enjoy the sunshine on the Glade. Alas the endless summer has come to an end and it’s time to start bundling up for the fall weather. Luckily, this does not mean you have to abandon your t-shirt dress!
Style this number with a cardigan (and a coat on top if it’s really chilly) to avoid goosebumps. For the legs, either go with thigh high boots or socks that will still show off your figure. If the t-shirt silhouette is still too simple, slip on a crew neck knitted sweater for an elevated ensemble. (Note: All these tips also apply to your favorite summer romper!)
Denim Skirt
Whether you rock the cut-off, button-up, or fitted denim skirt, there are very easy ways you can dress it up for the chillier weather. A thin crop top, no matter how cute, will no longer keep you warm enough while you trek to your dreaded 8 a.m.’s.
Slip a cropped sweater on top to keep the arms and the core warm. Or go for a longer sweater which will leave a tasteful sliver of denim peeking out on the bottom. Again, try knee high boots or socks to keep the stems warm (and to avoid having to shave)!
Floral
This print is an embodiment of summer and its colorful memories. Though just because it’s getting colder doesn't mean you have to leave it behind!
The bright colors of the summer make for a great statement piece in the fall. Try pairing the floral with darker pieces to make the the pattern pop. Whether it’s a dark long coat, a pair of black jeans, or some fall boots, there are endless ways to incorporate floral into your fall wardrobe.
Light-Wash Distressed Denim
Light-wash denim overalls, cutoffs, boyfriend jeans, jackets and everything in between are a big staple in any casual summer wardrobe. There is just something so care-free about the faded palette that screams sunny California!
Again, pairing with darker colors is a surefire way to make the piece more fall friendly. You could also take the sporty approach by pairing light denim with varsity jackets, bombers, or tracksuit jackets. If the distressing leaves your legs too cold, consider pairing a fun pair of fishnet or patterned tights underneath for a special touch (make sure they are footed tights to avoid bunching). Add a simple fleece hoodie underneath your denim jacket to increase its warmth exponentially.
If I’m being honest, you will most likely see me on campus in some sweats speed-walking to my class that I woke up for 15 minutes ago. However, you have my word that I will be implementing these easy styling tips at least once a week this fall. Style is about feeling comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing, so go out and make this campus your runway!
